Friday’s Favs

I’ve been slacking on the favs for the past few weeks. Not because I forgot about you guys, that would just be crazy – but because my brain wasn’t happy enough to think of things that were great from my week. It’s been a rough couple of weeks over here with struggling with work and the job search but hopefully things are starting to look up. I mean, they must be because I have some great favorites to share, along with a quote that stuck with me. Happy Friday friends, hope you all have a lovely weekend!

“This is the real secret of life: to be completely engaged with what you are doing in the here and now. And instead of calling it work, realize it as play” — Alan Watts

Friday’s Favs

This week has lasted forever, why is it that short weeks feel like they are six days long instead of four? Is it a trick of the brain or just that we’ve had one less day to get things done that makes the other days drag out? Long weekends are a double edged sword I’d say. But enough with the dramatics, happy Friday friends! There is nothing on the agenda this weekend and I could not be more excited to sit around and do nothing while catching up on some household chores (laundry, grocery shopping, planning for fall ← wait what?). What do you guys have planned for this lovely first weekend in September?

Friday’s Favs

While fashion is transitioning from spring and summer to fall, San Francisco (always a little behind the times weather-wise) is trying to transition from winter to summer. Our summer usually starts in September and it’s been a long time coming. I dont know about you other SF friends, but I am ready for dresses and less fog, a lot less fog. We are venturing north of the city this weekend to see the sun for Nate’s bacon birthday and hopefully going to an amusement park on Monday – you know, for some good old fashion fun! What are your plans for the long weekend?

Friday’s Favs

This weekend is the last of my summer weekend getaways. Tahoe is gorgeous and I’m so glad we ended with one that was close to home and that wasn’t jammed packed with obligations. Relaxing by the lake in the warm sunshine is the perfect ending to another perfect summer. See you next year have-something-to-do-every-weekend summer, now it’s bring on the pumpkins, turkey and presents (is it Christmas yet?).

Friday’s Favs

Collaborations are so fun and Monday’s Featured Friends was a perfect example of blogging bringing people together! I’m aiming to do one a month with various blogger friends to get some cross pollination going on and if you have ideas or want to collab definitely reach out! In other news – where did this week go? I kind of remember Monday but now all of a sudden it’s Friday?!? I’ve been a busy bee over here I guess, forgetting days, making honey and cross pollinating!

Friday’s Favs

Lot of new happenings on the blog this week. First outfits, lots of reflections, more social things and even a new feature coming next week! Times are a changin’ and LHC is a changin’ with them! I’m excited for the new developments and that it’s Friday. Nate and I are hosting some people for Outside Lands this weekend and then going wine tasting on Sunday with some friends. Should be a lovely end to a lovely week.

Friday’s Favs

This was a restful week for me, and the SF weather played along with my sleepy, lazy mood. Foggy mornings and cloudy skies helped me recover from running 13 miles and made me feel better about staying inside. They say recovery is just as important as training, so I’m mixing laying down a lot and staying in with wine nights – that is the perfect remedy for any and every ailment right? Hope you guys have a restful weekend!

Friday’s Favs

This week was dominated by social media for me, and my being intimidated by it. When I started LHC (new acronym, like it?), I shied away from having separate social media outlets for myself and my blog. Honestly, I didn’t want to have to keep up with all of them – it felt like a lot of work. But alas, social media is the future and after adding Twitter and creating a new Pinterest for my blog (and finding that it wasn’t really like work), I realized I would need more. Last week I started an Instagram (@lovehaightcupcakes) and I also published my Facebook page, both of which you can find on the side bar, and both of which scared the crap out of me. I was afraid of the usual things – people not liking my blog, them thinking its bad or dumb and encouraging other people to think that. But the purpose of this blog was to share my life and the things I love with anyone and everyone out there, so I had to take the chance. And it paid off, the responses have been nothing short of amazing (thank  you to everyone), so I must be doing something right, right? I hope so, and here is my last plug – follow me on all my social media things (see those pretty green buttons over there, click those) and have an amazing weekend!

Friday’s Favs

Man, working full weeks during the summer is rough – especially after coming off of three 4-day weeks in a row. My old job had summer Fridays and even though that job was the devil, those Fridays were heaven. For some reason that extra day really takes it out of me – when are those 10 hour, 4-day work weeks coming to America? It’s been a long week, but the weekend trips have subsided (for a time) and I am looking forward to hanging out in this June-gloom city this weekend and enjoying a home cooked meal. What are your weekend plans?

Friday’s Favs

Summer is in full swing! Things I can check off: one wedding down, one to go, Fourth of July properly celebrated, base tan coming in well – things to work on: pool time/time in a body water, dining al fresco, staying in SF on the weekends, wearing more summer dresses. I love how everything comes to life in the summer, people celebrate more, stay out later and I am constantly hearing “why not, it’s summer’ being thrown around. That is going to be my motto for our wedding weekend in Santa Monica – cheers to warm weather and al fresco dining!  What are your summer weekend plans?
